stories from aruba
inside - The Internet communication
outside - Interphone by IDT with special cheap account so everbody can profit from it world wide
future - Crime is raising every place in this world.
100 years from now I think that day it's quit impossible to walk on the street.
Drugs is stil dominating all countries and people using drugs will make an end
to peace on the streets.People will all do their shopping by this media, the Internet
communication. There will be maybe I hope not but I
can see it comming up, a civil war between drug users and sellers with the whole coomunity

inside - As far as personal experience is concerned, I just completed a
4 month journey around the world, visiting countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle-East
and Europe. It was a grand eye-opener, and has made me aware of many things
that I was not prior to this voyage.
outside - A local event is difficult to comment on, since nothing ever
really happens on Aruba. There has been a rise in crime, which I am sad to say is
very disturbing. Also, President Clinton recently placed us on the top 10
list of countries involved in drug money trafficking, which was also rather
not nice. Other than that the Carnaval season just ended and everybody has
been in pretty high spirits.
future - The world 100 years from now is difficult to predict. I am not
knowledgeable enough to seriously comment on that. I think it is difficult
enough to imagine my own life ten years from now. I think most people have
ideals and hopes and dreams about what will happen in the future, but whether
or not they ever become a reality depends on the individual and the course of
global events. Of course, like many others I see computers playing a steadily
growing larger role in today's society, which I feel will continue to expand
in to the new millennium. The global community is growing smaller as
communication becomes more and more accessible. Problems which affect other
countries will affect neighbouring countries and the rest of the world more
quickly than ever before. World leaders are going to have to start paying
more attention to what is going on around them. Education is very very
important. I cannot stress it enough. I repeat what I mentioned earlier in my
note to you, there are far too many ignorant people living day to day who are
unaware of problems for example in the Middle-East, Ireland, South America
etc. As a global community we're going to have to work together to face and
rectify these situations, because they eventually will affect everyone.
