stories from grenada
inside - While walking along a street I noticed that garbage had piled
up in the wind but in the middle of it all a flower was blooming. With mixed
feelings of hope and despair I put together a collage of garbage with an
orchid sitting in a coke bottle. We have an annual art show and I finished
just in time for the entry date. My collage and first piece of art although
not winning any prizes did create a lot of comment when situated among the
beautiful paintings of Grenada.
outside - We have a theatrical group called TUMDA which stands for the
Theatre of Unique Music and Dramatic Arts. The are a small group of people
who always play "Big Drums" during their plays. The drums always add passion
in the form of love, fear, hate, joy - so much so that the audience including
my self becomes part of the play.
future - As a mother I find the future rather frightening. I think
there will be a lot of disease and death, fear and violence. People will no
longer go out, using machines for all forms of communication, work and play.
Nature will have started getting revenge on humans in the form of catastrophic
weather and resiliant bacterial strains. Science will have gone too far - if
it hasn't already. I do no see a war of major proportions. The world will be
fighting organisations and individuals. There will be a severe loss of
identity as media becomes global and culture becomes lost in the realm of
entertainment.
Not a pretty sight and I feel glad that I will not be around.

inside - With my new relationahip with God, discovered over the past
four to five years, I have experienced an inner peace that cannot be described
or disturbed by events that would have disturbed me in years gone by. So, my
most inspiring personal experience has been my discovery of the love of God
for all of us. It breeds hope and allows us to love even in the most
difficult situations.
outside - Cant identify one at this time
future - A smaller world because of technology. Space playing a major
role in our lives. Violence at a higher scale and at an even younger age
(which is a bit scary). The balance of knowledge would be more evenly spread
accross the world but will be used by certain groups to create even more havoc
than we see today. The talk will be about distruction of areas above the
ozone layer.
