stories from mauritius
inside - Recently, I had a dispute with my parents because I was going
out with a girl from another ethnic group. I'm half-cast person between
Creole and Chinese, and my girlfriend is Creole (black person).
This makes me aware that although my country is populated by people of varied
roots (ie., a multi-racial country), there are still many prejudices which
prevail here. I don't care about colour, race and religion. It makes me
really mad and sad to see people still behaving as such, i.e., looking upon
people of a different class from their own.
If I could do it, I would devote my life to making people care for each other
regardless of their religion and cultural background.
outside - Well, the opening of the Caudan waterfront in the capital of
my country. People, here, like new things. And, Caudan Waterfront is the
latest attraction. In a way, it makes me happy, I can go to the movie and be
free to choose whichever seat I like for my girlfriend and me!
future - I don't see beyond 2000. So, the question does not really
suit me.
No.. What I think is that there'll be nothing like space travel, teleport,
flying cars, etc. But, there will be much more emphasis on computers and I
see the world living in peace.
